DSM is actively seeking candidates for a Cable Production Technician to assemble electrical and mechanical parts, systems, and components. Reports to the Production Lead.
Essential Functions
Maintain standards of safety in assembly operations.
Understand, support, and execute all quality objectives and deliverables as described in the DSM QMS system relating to assigned projects.
Inspect assembly output for qualification to engineering documentation and drawings.
Use oscilloscopes, meters, measurement electronics, computers, and automated measurement devices.
Use soldering, mechanical, electronic, and other hand, and assembly tools.
Identify irregularities and problems through frequent monitoring during manufacturing.
Clearly communicate with team members.
Perform routine maintenance.
Must complete DSM Quality Training (ISO-9001:2015).
Internally motivated, “self-starter” type personality.
Reliable, can be trusted to work consistently on tasks without close supervision.
Able to work on tasks individually or as part of a small team.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal training and/or previous experience as a technician. Some experience in a maintenance, repair, or product development environment is desirable.
Some postsecondary education even if a degree was not completed.
Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Basic understanding of machining drawings and/or electrical schematics.
Some familiarity with mechanical and/or electrical CAD. Ability or interest in developing the ability to model basic components in CAD.

Work Environment
Generally, works in climate-controlled office or laboratory environment but may occasionally be required to perform duties outside the typical office setting. May at times work in a loud environment with nuisance noise. Very limited overnight travel may be required.
