The Engineering Technician assists in the design and test of electrical hardware and software and assembles mechanical prototypes and production systems e.g., piezoelectric and other specialized positioning systems. Documentation of results is an important part the technician’s role. Reports to the Production Manager.
Essential Functions
Assemble prototype and production systems with a careful and methodical approach. Particularly in the case of prototype builds, limited documentation will be available, so imagination and perseverance are sometimes needed.
Test prototypes and production hardware.
Reliably document test results.
Verify accuracy of received parts and assemble mechanisms with assembly drawings.
Make simple modifications to hardware using basic tools.
Build test fixtures using opto-mechanical breadboards and similar components.
Troubleshoot malfunctioning mechanisms.
Solder components on printed circuit boards.
Make wire harnesses.
Troubleshoot malfunctioning analog and digital circuits.
